URGE YOUR MP TO OPPOSE THE REFUGEE BAN BILL

The film MATAR shines a light on the UK’s broken asylum system and the hostile environment so many people find themselves in.

The UK Government is proposing a new bill that would make life even worse for people seeking safety in the UK, essentially what they are proposing is a Refugee Ban Bill.

If it is passed into law,  the proposed legislation would eliminate the right to claim asylum in the UK and turn our back on some of the  world’s most vulnerable people.

People seeking safety from war, persecution and human rights abuses would be locked up indefinitely, left in permanent limbo, under the perpetual threat of deportation. It means that any person who has been forced to make a dangerous journey to the UK - an Afghan fleeing the Taliban, a Syrian escaping war, or anyone being persecuted for who they are or what they believe - will be denied the right to have their asylum claim heard in the UK.

We believe that people seeking protection from war and persecution should be welcomed and that everyone’s claim for asylum should be treated equally and fairly.

The Government is trying to rush this bill into law,  so taking action now is more important than ever. Please help us stop this Bill. Ask your MP to join us in fighting for an alternative, in which refugees are welcomed and protected.
